HEADSTONE OF JOHN SUTTON:

posted: august 17, 2002

"Description: In Memory of: John Sutton and Rachel (Davis) Sutton, who is buried in the Salem SDB Cemetery in Salem, Harrison Co., WV. John is the son of Cornelius Sutton, and the father of George J. Sutton, husband of Eleanor (Davis) Sutton, and parents of Isreal D. Sutton. After Rachels death, John left Harrison Co., West Virginia and went back to Ohio, (probably in 1859). His death is recorded in Ohio death records as March 13, 1869 and is reportedly buried in Cost Cemetery, Quincy, Logan Co., Miami Township, Ohio. Why he returned to Ohio is still a mystery, however he and Cornelius, his father, had both purchased land in Ohio on the same day in April of 1820 in the Cincinnati, Ohio Land Patent Office. Cornelius purchasing 160 acres and John purchasing 40.16 acres, Pike Co., Ohio. " contributer is Nancy HUEY

I also go back to the Richardl Maxson line.
Information I have on Sutton Maxson shows he
married a second time in Harrion Co. W.Va (VA)5 Oct 1836 to Vianna D. Sutton d?o John Sutton and Rachel Davis..and there were 9 children including the possibility of the first on Cyrus/Charles (census) used both. Am I wrong on this? carl
