- THE MONUMENT TO THE VICTIMS OF NAZISM. The Canadian André
Fauteux made this great abstract wheel
in 1987. It commemorates the citizens of Barcelona who died in the Nazi
concentration camps.

- Rodger Mack, OBITUARY:
- Rodger A. Mack, 63, of Syracuse New York passed away
Monday September
- 16, at home. Born in Barberton, Ohio, he graduated from
the Cleveland
- institute of Art, and Cranbrook academy. He moved to
Syracuse in 1968
- where he was head of the sculpture department at Syracuse
University for
- the past 34 years. He was the first director of the School
of Art and
- design at Syracuse University and was instrumental in
the growth and
- development of the national reputation of the sculpture
program at S.U.
-
- He worked with sculptor Anthony Caro to establish the
world-renowned
- Triangle Artists Workshop which was held in Pine pains,
N.Y., Barcelona,
- Spain and London, England. He served as Dean, board member
and
- participant for 10 years, from 1982-1992. Triangle workshop
became world
- renowned for shaping new ideas and directions in art.
An artist with an
- international reputation, Rodger worked in bronze, iron,
and stone.
- He has had solo exhibitions in the Sid Deutsch Gallery,
and Oscar
- Krasner Gallery in New York City, and his work is in
numerous public and
- private collections both nationally and internationally.

- His most recently commissioned sculpture is the Memorial
to all soldiers
- Missing in Action in American wars, and is installed
at the New York
- State Fairgrounds in front of the Horticultural Building.

- He is survived by his companion, Jeri Nelson, his son,
Theo Mack of new
- York City, his sister Kathy Thomas of Naples, Florida
and scores of
- professional artists and graduate students working in
various capacities
- across the world who all regard him as their mentor.

- At his request, a Memorial Service will be held at Hendricks
Chapel of
- Syracuse University on November 2, 2002 at 2:00pm. In
lieu of flowers, a
- donation can be made to the Rodger Mack Scholarship Fund-
