Carol Sutton was born in Virginia, but in 1970 she moved to Toronto, where she still lives and works. She has exhibited widely in Canada and the USA. Her paintings gain their impact from her expressive handling of paint on large colour fields. I was one of the first artist in Canada to test out these new colors circa 1980. Their unique high load color gesso and fluid acrylics, superb gel, and a host of other goodies make the paint that the paintings are made from possible. Golden also makes the best hand crafted [with thier real paint] color charts in the business. These charts are little works of art in themselves; usually the yellows are floated in a sea of deeper hues that surround them and include the original Heavy Body, Iridescent Acrylics and Interference Acrylics. Golden also makes a Matte Acrylics line. CLS HISTORY: "June 1980 marked the beginning of GOLDEN Artist Colors, Inc., in a 900 square foot, renovated cow barn owned by Sam Golden. Sam, his wife Adele, son Mark and daughter-in-law Barbara Golden along with partner Chuck Kelly founded the company after a failed retirement by Sam. " |
