Series: Gustave Caillebotte & Andre le Notre Garden 2008 (Andre le Nôtre)
Artist: Carol Sutton
Date: November 25, 2008 B #2 (Tuesday)
Inventory #: 08/11/25 B #2
Size in inches: 32 1/8” x 23 1/4”
Size in centimeters: 84 cm x 59 cm

Media: Paper is Somerset, England (watermarked in the corner), with the extended
edges done in Stonehenge paper. -*I recently purchased, the Saunders Waterford
watercolor paper, St. Cuthbert Mill, England. The watercolor paper has the extra sizing
on top which makes the paint sit up well. The Saunders W. watercolor paper comes in a
pack with 3 sheets. Also using the 'Somerset' paper, much softer and very absorbent.
Paints: Golden Paints acrylics, gessoes, gels, Golden Garnet Gel Course and Golden
Garnet Gel Fine. And Tri-Art Acrylics; including Tri Art Spectral Colour (Light Green &
others); Other media: colored sand, micro beads, bronze powder mixed with
acrylics. The ‘stones’ are made to look as if they are real stones, representing
bushes or trimmed trees, but in this case they are all paint; not real stones at all.
________
Description by artist: A path (of clay tone or lava tone parchment color with
bronze color) running through two major parterre forms. Above the parterre in
the distance is a diamond shaped pond. And shooting off to right at an angle is
a group of raised paint areas that look like the variegated striped real glass
rocks; that here are being used in imitation of bushes. These fake bushes are
asymmetrically placed on the upper right side only. The Somerset paper is very
moist and these super heavy paint globs (the bushes) take days to dry, leaving
marks on the verso side of the paper. But in general I am very happy with the
lush paint movement and the drawing in this artwork.

Note: This is a sample of my current activites and projects.  Inspiration via Gustave Caillebotte Yerres Garden, other parterres, Andre Le Notre, etc. Most are on paper, and  few are on canvas. None of these are yet on my website: www.carolsutton.net as I do not want to proceed exposure in the marketplace. (with the exception of these few)
